Pain Relief & Stress Management

7 Quick Ways to Relieve Headaches at Work

1.
Slowly get up and move around. This will improve blood flow and nerve signals, and reduce muscle tension.
2.
Stretch your neck and head in a few different directions. Move your head side to side (ear to shoulder), Chin to Chest, Turtle-tuck, and rotational. Look to the left, then to the right.
3.
Relax muscles from head to toe. Sit in a comfortable seat for a few minutes. Relax your face and jaw first, and then focus on relaxing every area of your body. Give extra attention to any areas that feel tight and imagine them getting looser.
4.
Eat something nutritious like fruit, veggies, or nuts. Hydrate.
5.
Get sunlight. Look out a window, go outside.
6.
Rest your eyes. Blink them, rub them, look away from your computer monitor for several minutes.
7.
Sip plain, unsweetened green tea. It provides vitamins for a nutrition boost. Its small amount of caffeine can ease headaches due to coffee withdrawal.

Tips For Pain-Free Travel

Plan accommodations. Reserve rooms and estimate arrival times. Otherwise, you can be stressed out and spend many extra hours driving around trying to find a vacancy.
Bring a cooler. This allows you to eat healthier, and to eat foods that are familiar to you. “Travel food” (from restaurants and fast-food joints) zaps your energy and can give you a tummy ache.
Bring proper footwear. Always bring at least one pair of sneakers, or comfortable walking shoes.
Carry your own sport bottle, for water. Stay hydrated.
Plan physical activity. You will find that there are opportunities to stretch, walk, and to move, every time you get out of your vehicle. Read brochures to think of creative ways that you can include exercise throughout your trip.
